Phnom Penh, August 9, 2025 — The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration has announced that a peace pilgrimage organized by two leading Buddhist monasteries will take place tomorrow afternoon, August 10, 2025, aimed at promoting respect for the ceasefire and ensuring peace and stability between Cambodia and Thailand.
The event will commence at 3:00 p.m. at Wat Phnom Cultural and Historical Site, where approximately 2,569 monks will assemble. The procession will then proceed towards the Independence Monument, serving as a symbolic call for regional harmony.
To facilitate the event and ensure public safety, authorities will enforce traffic restrictions along Norodom Boulevard from 3:00 p.m. until the conclusion of the pilgrimage. During this period, all vehicles will be prohibited from traveling along the route between Wat Phnom and the Independence Monument.
Citizens are advised to avoid the affected areas during this time, exercise patience, and cooperate with law enforcement. The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration emphasizes that such initiatives are vital to fostering regional peace and demonstrate the city’s commitment to stability in Southeast Asia.
